EASTERN SHORE CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL BRINGS TRIO CAVATINA TO TALBOT INTERNATIONAL FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL

The Eastern Shore Chamber Music Festival brings the Trio Cavatina from New York City to present “A Taste of Music” during the Talbot International Food and Wine Festival on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 7 pm in the Avalon Theatre, Easton, MD.

There will be a weekend of events -- wine, food and music tastings, wine seminars and culinary entertainment from Oct. 5-6. Visitors to Talbot County can relax after a busy day of “international travel” by attending the one-hour concert by the Trio Cavatina which begins at 7 p.m. so attendees can dine afterwards at one of the participating restaurants in Easton and throughout Talbot County.

It was a fortunate day for music lovers when three extraordinarily gifted young musicians, Ieva Jokubaviciute, piano, Harumi Rhodes, violin, and Priscilla Lee, cello, met at the Marlboro Music Festival and decided to create Trio Cavatina.  Formed in early 2005, Trio Cavatina is rapidly gaining an enviable reputation as one of the outstanding ensembles of its generation.

The trio, known for its classical and romantic trio repertoire plus 20th century works, made its New York City debut during the 2006-2007 season at the Schneider Concerts at the New School followed by a concert at Merkin Hall. The romantic program on October 6 offers Schumann, Beethoven and the spice of Piazzola tangos.

Pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute made her Chicago Symphony debut at the Ravinia Festival. Recent chamber music performances were heard on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., and Carnegie’s Weill Hall. Ieva has performed solo recitals in Vilnius, Lithuania, Boston and at the Smithsonian Institution’s Freer Gallery in Washington, D.C. She earned degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and from Mannes College of Music.

Violinist Harumi Rhodes, a member of Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society Two, has performed with the Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Seattle Chamber Music Societies and numerous prestigious Festivals. She has played in several ”Musicians from Marlboro” tours, giving concerts at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Washington, D.C.’s Freer Gallery which featured a mixture of classic and contemporary works.  Ms. Rhodes received her Bachelor of Music from the Juilliard School and her Master of Music from the New England Conservatory.

Cellist Priscilla Lee, a 2005 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, began studying at age five and made her solo debut in 1998 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A native of California, Priscilla studied at the Coleman School of Performing Arts and went on to the Curtis Institute of Music. She later received a Master of Music from the Mannes College of Music. She participated in the “Opening Concert” at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall and premiered Osvaldo Golijov’s “Ayre” with Dawn Upshaw in Zankel Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston. She is participating in two “Musicians from Marlboro” tours and is a member of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society Two for the 2006-2008 seasons.
